John Page (Jack) Hanlon

1926 - 2021

John Page (Jack) Hanlon - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father on Friday January 15th 2021 at the IOOF in Barrie. Whether you knew him by John, Jack or Johnny, the world now seems a little less bright without him. Dad’s exuberance, zest for life and his outrageous sense of humour impacted all of us. He takes with him the knowledge that he was dearly loved by his family, his daughter Cheryl Conrad of Barrie; his son Mark and daughter-in-law...

Ole Johnny will be truly missed in the hood. We were fortunate enough to have Johnny in our neighborhood for many reasons.
He taught both of our kids to ride bikes. He always had treats our  kids and the dogs that walked by.
Johnny was a great addition to any work work project going. Never one to tell you what to do but always some advice that usually made the job easier.
Nobody has ever had the amount of one liners as Johnny. The best.
Ole Johnny was a very generous man that simply cared about those around him.
Anyone that know him is a better person.

Dear Jack’s family

We loved reading your tribute to your wonderful father. We have many fond memories of Jack because he was a important person in my parent’s lives. Jack and Eleanor were wonderful life long friends to my father and mother Carl and Frances Brunson. There was many a night of the couples getting together for a game of cards at each other houses. As a kid, it was an exciting evening to have Jack and Eleanor arrive always happy and joyful and hear the fun and laughter the two couples enjoyed playing cards. There was always lots of jokes towards the losing team about their skills and card playing abilities.
After Eleanor passing, Jack was a constant visitor to my parents house and played many a game of cribbage and again there was much fun and laughter. My dad and Jack were good buddies and went hunting, picked blueberries and enjoyed good conversations for many years together. They knew how to have fun!
We are thinking of your family at this sad time and hope the fond memories of your dad will always keep him alive in your thoughts.

Dear Cheryl, Wade, Curtis, Mark (and family).  What a fabulous tribute to Jack,  I can hear Cheryl speaking every word of it.  I am fortunate enough to have known Jack for almost 57 years.  Jack had a very unique sense of humour and quick wit.  I have fond memories of many a dinner and sleepover at the Hanlon household on Campbell Avenue - and especially Jack holding up the fence so we could sneak into the Barrie fair without paying.  I so admired his tenacity when he was declared legally blind.  May you rest in peace dear Jack.
